"I believe this dying craft needs to be preserved. So few people know of its existence and there are even fewer skilled artisans using it."

My
Story

Growing up in Canada, I was fortunate to be part of an artistic family that encouraged me to explore various forms of creativity. My background in watercolour and oil painting, jewellery making, and other art forms such as polymer sculpture, wet and dry felting, tatted lace, and photography has been instrumental in shaping my artistic journey. My passion for languages, knowledge acquisition, and art experimentation led me to Ravenna, Italy, the hub of mosaic revival, where I worked and taught alongside Master Mosaicist Luciana Notturni at her Mosaic Art School. Under her guidance, I discovered the beauty of mosaics and the elegance of micromosaics. For over two decades, I have been living in Italy, teaching students from all over the world the art of creating precise reproductions of ancient mosaics. My skills have expanded to various forms of mosaic art, including direct method onto temporary binder, reverse method and 3D mosaics, but my true calling and passion remains micromosaics.

I believe this dying craft needs to be preserved. So few people know of its existence and there are even fewer skilled artisans using it. After falling in love with this technique I have encountered genuine curiosity from people about this fascinating craft. Micromosaics have gained popularity recently and I am certain they will continue to grow in popularity. I believe it is important for people to understand the skill and artistry that goes into each piece. I hope that this craft will flourish once again.
